Valentine's Mailed

250 cards and Valentine's on their way to "From Our Hearts".  A BIG Thank you to Diney for helping me stamp and assemble the Valentine's on the 29th!!  Many hands make light work!

And another Thanks to Carolyn and Amy for helping buy card packs and clear sleeves to package cards.  I so appreciate the support for this cause.

The next date to prepare for is Feb. 26th.  Easter cards are due.  I will be making cards as time permits and plan to place a date on the calendar after Valentine's day to make cards as a group.  If you want to make a few cards and drop them off while attending an event that would be great also.

Be careful out there this New Year's Eve!!

Henry's Valentine

This new Stamp set from the Spring Mini is the cutest and I could not wait to make a Valentine.  This set has lots of sentiments, Birthday, Christmas  and Congrats.  Plus lots of accessories to add to Henry.  Easy to cut out, so decided to stamp with Stazon Black ink on a sheet from the Print Poetry Designer paper stack.

In colors Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple markers ( a great way to get 5 colors of ink) and card stock compliment Henry's complexion!  I even painted Henry's toenails with Primrose Petals!

The Honeycomb embossing folder and a bit of sanding make Henry pop!  The Whisper White card base was embossed with Perfect Polka dots.  Adorning accents was used to create the curvy edges.

Ornaments

Twas the night before Christmas and the stockings were hung by the chimney with care......Christmas trees have been up since Thanksgiving!  How tradition has changed!  My family always had a REAL tree and we strung popcorn and made many of our ornaments.

Here are a few I made this year.

Decorate your tree with handmade ornaments. a great way to use up that designer paper and trim scraps.  I used the Ornament punch, Petite Pennants Builder for the Tree and Ornament Keepsakes Framelits for the large bulb ornament.
Punch several shapes, score down the middle and adhere to form a 3 D ornament.  Slide your trim hanger in the layers and glue.  I used Tombo Multi adhesive for the ornaments.  The Bulb was cut (2)with the framelit and then embossed with the Northern Flurry embossing folder.  Adhere together and embellish with pearls.

I cut a Elegant Bird out of roof flashing and ran thru the Big Shot with embossing folders.  I used glimmer brads to hold the bird together and add glimmer to the wings.  A Cherry Cobbler Seam binding ribbon finishes the bird.  This bird makes a great tree topper sitting in a big bow.

Have we seen enough Christmas samples?  I think we are ready to sneak a peak at the Spring Mini and Sale-a-bration catalogs!  Watch my calendar for the big reveal party and this blog for daily samples using new products.

Ornament with Tulle

Christmas is almost here and my cards are sent.  Now I am concentrating on making up my leftovers for the Soldiers.  I have been supporting "From our Hearts" for the past 3 years.  Sending cards to Jefferson City Mo.  This organization boxes and sends handmade cards to lots of locations overseas so our troops can then send these cards back to their loved ones!  A very worthy cause!

I will be constructing cards Saturday Dec. 29th.  If you would like to join me rsvp on my website:
www.kathyswanson.stampinup,net

I will be making Christmas cards for next year and some Valentines and all occasion cards to get in the mail on the 31st.  A bit past the deadline, but they are in dire need of cards, so I am sending whatever I have finished.

Ornament Framed

This night of Navy card is elegant and simple.  The card base is actually Whisper white, with a full Night of Navy mat on top.  The Whisper White mat was cut at 3 3/4 X 5.  The Holiday Frame embossing folder frames the Ornament Keepsake ornament.  Stamp your sentiment first before embossing!  I forget from time to time, so set that aside and use for another project.  There are no mistakes in stamping!!  Just re-purposing!!
Stamp ormament in Night of Navy and cut with the framelit.  I used some leftover silver cord for the tie and used some Dazzling Details to add some shimmer to the ornament.  Quick , simple and elegant!!

Easy Gift Bag

I know I have been showing alot of Dies to cut and make projects.  Not everyone is lucky to have a Big Shot handy, so here is a easy bag using 1/2 a piece of Designer paper!  The finished Bag is 4 1/2 inches high, by 1 1/2 inch wide.

Cut a 12X12 piece of Designer paper in half.  Score at 4 inches, 5 1/2 inches, 9 1/2 inches and 11 inches.  Turn paper and score at 4 1/2 the length of the paper.
Cut at the bottom short score lines up to the long score line.  This will allow the box bottom to be folded.
Add Sticky strip to the shortest side flap and one of the bottom flaps.

Adhere and form your bag.  Next squeeze in sides like a grocery bag and punch a handle.  I used the Large Oval Punch.  Tie with Cherry Cobbler tulle and decorate with glimmer paper, buttons, stamped images, anything your hear desires.  I chose to leave mine plain for now.  Here is another bag using the reverse side of this "Be Of Good Cheer" designer paper.

Quick easy and perfect for small gifts.

Merry Mini Ornament

Today's card uses a different punch from the Merry Mini punch pack and a little more bling!  I used Snow Festival Designer Paper which matches this tiny ornament punch!

The Whisper White card stock was cut at 4 1/4 X 5 1/2.  Designer Paper 4 X 3.  Adhere the designer paper on the top half of the card front leaving a white frame.  Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock 4 X 1 3/4.  Adhere below the designer paper.  Add a 1 X 4 strip of Baja Breeze card stock in the center or the Cherry Cobbler.  Stamp your sentiment in Cherry Cobbler Classic ink from the Border Banter Stamp set.  I then ran the card front thru the Big Shot using the Northern Flurry embossing folder.   Cut another strip of Whisper White card stock 1 1/2 X 4.  Punch the ornaments placing your paper all the way in the punch.  Trim off the 1/4 extra on the bottom of the ornaments to center them in the strip, just like on the card yesterday.   Run this punched strip thru the Big Shot trying to match up the Snow Flurry Embossing folder so this piece will line up with the card front.
Punch an ornament from Silver Glimmer paper.  Pop up the punched strip with dimensionals and add a glue dot to the glimmer ornament and push thru the punch out.  I added Cherry Cobbler Seam binding and a few Basic Rhinestone jewels to the Snowflake centers.

Digital Joy card

Today I am showing you a Digital card I made while I was waiting at the card dealer on Black Friday.  I took my laptop and My Digital Studio does not require an internet connection.  So I sat and played for about 2 hours.  The picture above is the "finished" card.  I added a Silver Glimmer paper Snowflake cut with the Snowflake die and added a large Basic Rhinestone Jewel.

The below picture is the card front printed on Whisper White Card stock.  I used my paper trimmer and cropped the card to 5 1/4 X 4 , perfect size to mat on my Old Olive card base.  I could have cut out and popped up the tree mat, but I was trying to keep it simple!  The remaining paper can be used for upcoming projects.  The background digital paper is an old retired paper from years ago.  That is one nice feature of digital.  Your Designer paper never runs out, it is only a printing away!!
I am using this card for my Supervisor.  Our work group is going to sign and SING on a Talking Tag!!  This will be so much fun and he is quite a techie kind of guy, so he will appreciate our effort to embrace technology!!

Merry Mini Tree

This is a very easy card using the Merry Minis Punch pack in the Holiday Mini.  I started with a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 card in Whisper White card stock.  Stamp your sentiment , I used "Greetings of the Season"and then run the card front thru the Big Shot with the Argyle Embossing folder

Cut a piece of Whisper White 1 1/2 inches X 4 1/4.  I then punched my trees,  putting the paper all the way in the punch to keep the trees even.  I was a bit off on the side to side spacing but will do better on my next attempt!!  =)

Then trim 1/4 inch off below the trees, this centers the trees from top to bottom.  Cut a 1 X 4 1/4 inch strip of Snow Festival Designer paper.  Cut a Solid card stock strip 1 3/4 X 4 1/4.  Adhere the designer paper in the center of the colored card stock.  Pop up the white tree strip with stampin' dimensionals over the Designer paper so your trees show thru the punches.  Punch a Tree from Red Glimmer paper.  Add a glue dot to the Red Glimmer Tree and push the glimmer tree thru the punch out.  Simple and easily duplicated for multiple cards!!

Ingredients:

Merry Minis Punch Pack  126882  $16.95
Greetings of the Season  Clear  128033  $11.95,   Wood 128030 $15.95

A note on Designer series paper.  I have been making all kinds of projects using this Snow Festival paper, it goes a LONG way.  Don't be afraid to use your paper!  Cutting into that first piece is the hardest.  But keep in mind using pieces that will use the paper wisely.  Examples would be 3X4.  You can get 12 pieces this size from one sheet of paper.  One inch strips can be used as bands, banners, quilt strips and bargello patterns. All of the paper in the package is double sided, coordinated and interchangeable.  Matching paper makes cards go together so much easier!  One more card coming using this paper, see you tomorrow!!

Quilt Scrap Card

I needed some cards FAST and this was my solution!  Many scraps were littering my table and I have made this quilt card for other occasions, so 6 cards made and crisis averted.

I still have a 12 x 12 piece of Snow Festival Designer paper left.  I have made at least 50 cards/projects with this paper pack!

The card base is Gumball Green card stock 5 1/2 X 4 1/4.  Embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Cut a mat 4 X 5 and cut with the Top Note Die.  Adhere scraps to the Top Note in random patterns.  Trim edges to match Top Note.  Emboss Top Note with the Petals a Plenty embossing folder.  Emboss a scrap piece of Gumball Green card stock with the Oval Designer Frames folder.  Trim along dots.  Stamp sentiment from Joyous Celebrations with Gumball Green classic ink on Whisper White card stock.  Punch with the Large Oval punch.  Pop up with dimensionals, DONE!!

Elegant Bird Card

I have not used this Elegant Bird Die since spring and the Champagne Glimmer paper seemed a perfect fit.  I needed 2 wings so I made 2 Elegant Bird cards for 2 of my Dear Great Aunts.

The card base is Naturals White Card Stock cut 5 1/2 X 4 1/4.  Cut another piece 5 1/4 X 4 for the mat.  I stamped the Sentiment from Greetings of the Season in Early Expresso classic ink.  The Fancy Fan embossing folder was inked with Crumb Cake classic ink.  Ink the folder on the top side, so the embossing pushes up.  Rinse the embossing folder under running water and pat dry.  I LOVE this technique!!  Adhere mat to card base.  I tied a strip of Early Expresso tulle around the Bird and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals

Simply elegant!  And not all the fuss and muss of using glitter.  This Glimmer paper can be punched and cut with ease.  Champagne is only available until Jan. 2nd!!  So add that to your list!

Angel Petal Cone Box

I tend to come up with my ideas when I am struggling to fall asleep on a work night!  The brain will just not shut off!  I was thinking about using glimmer paper to cut out birds for another project and was trying to not cut the wings.  And then it hit me make an Angel!!.So this became a dual project and as I worked out the details in my head I wanted to get up and make it, but had to wait until the next evening after work.

I cut 2 petal cones in Naturals White card stock with the Petal Cone die.  Emboss them with the Elegant Lines embossing folder.  Use Sticky strip and adhere the cones together.  (Refer to the Santa box in a previous post for photos)  The wings are cut from Champagne Glimmer paper with the Elegant Bird Die.  The below picture shows the die.  Cut one with the Glimmer up and one with the Glimmer down so you have wings going each direction.  I punched a 1 3/8 circle from the Glimmer paper.  Then use the 1 3/4 circle punch and punch again making the Halo.

Fold each flap on the wings and add sticky strip.  Add wings to each side of the angel.  Punch a 1 3/4 circle from Naturals White card stock for the Angel face.  Use a glue dot on each side of the Halo and sit on top of the face.  Use a dimensional and add face to the top of the cone.
Finish the bottom with 2 Itty Bitty punch shapes, attach with Metallic brads and close with Early Expresso Bakers Twine.

Ingredients:

For the Birds Holiday

This cute little card uses a new stamp set perfect for all occasions.  "For the Birds" in the Big Catalog.  I have been eying this set since the new catalog came out and you will see more cards using new Spring products coming in January.

For this card I used Naturals Ivory Card Stock, and a  3 X 5 1/2 piece of Be Of Good Cheer designer paper.  I embossed the edge with Delicate Designs embossing folder and added the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details last!  The Focal image is stamped on Naturals Ivory Card stock with Black Stazon ink.  The Bird was colored with markers and by using Stazon ink the black lines will not smudge when you color.   Markers used, Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, Crumb Cake and More Mustard
The image was cut out with Apothecary Ancents FramelitsGlimmer Brads and a scrap of Cherry Cobbler Seam binding finish this card.

Joyous Music

I am back to my natural look!  Can't help it, that is where my muse takes me.......

The card base is Crumb cake card stock cut 4 1/4 X 5 1/2. The mat from the Natural Composition Specialty paper is 4 X 4 1/4.  This paper pack has six different patterns, 2 sheets each pattern.  Beautiful paper with an embossed finish!

Ornaments were stamped in Gumball Green Classic ink, Cherry Cobbler and Midnight Muse on NaturalsWhite card stock using the "Ornament Keepsakes Bundle" stamp set and framelits

Joy was stamped from "Joyous Celebrations" and punched with the Large Oval punch.  Edges of the ornaments were sponged with matching inks.  Vintage trinket brads were added to each corner and a string of Linen Thread holds the Ornaments in place.  Add dimensionals under the ornaments to pop them off the musical notes.  Glue the card front to the card base.

WaterColor Winter Ornament

This card uses the Evergreen boughs from the stamp set "WatercEarly Expresso Classic Ink  olor Winter".  These colors and natural look express my style.  I could make cards like this all day.  The card base is Always Artichoke card stock.  The Naturals White card stock mat is ran thru the Big shot with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder.  The embossing folder was inked with Always Artichoke classic ink.  Love this look!!  Cherry Cobbler seam binding was added to the mat and glued to the card base.

The focal point was stamped on a piece of Naturals White card stock 2 X 4 and matted on 2 1/4 X 4 1/4 Always Artichoke.  I used Always Artichoke Classic ink and to stamp the pine boughs and pine cone.  Noel from"Greetings of the Season" was stamped in early Expresso.  An Ornament from the "Ornament Keepsakes bundle"  was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and cut out with the matching framelits! Linen thread tied around the ornament and popped up.  The entire focal point was popped up on the card base.

This bundle is a must have and will give you so much versatility for years to come.  Make cards, Christmas decorations, scrapbook and home decor!!

Watercolor Winter Bleached Poinsettia

I have been focusing on traditional Christmas colors and today I am going off the course and dabbling in Raspberry Ripple!  I love this color and after seeing a similar card on the Stampin' Connection site for demonstrators, I knew I had to add my twist!

My favorite LIVE poinsettias are the dark pink ones with the white veins, so I tried to re-create the look with bleach.
The card base is Raspberry Ripple Card stock cut 5 1/2 X 8 1/2.  Cut mat from Very Vanilla Card Stock 5 1/4 X 4.  Stamp sentiment in Early Expresso classic ink, then emboss.  Ink the Fancy Fan Embossing folder with Crumb Cake classic ink.  Run thru the Big Shot and the ink will transfer to the card stock creating a beautiful background!

Cut Raspberry Ripple card stock 2 1/2 X 2 1/2.  Stamp Poinsettia from "Watercolor Winter" with Versamark ink.  Emboss with heat gun and Gold Embossing powder.  I then used Bleach and an Aqua Painter to Bleach the poinsettia.  Use your heat gun to thoroughly dry before matting on a 2 3/4 X 2 3/4 piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  Use the Distressing tool to fray the edges.
Tie Raspberry Ripple Satin Stitched ribbon around the Very Vanilla mat.  Glue mat down to the card and then use Stampin' dimensionals to pop up the poinsettia.  Elegant and perfect for the Holidays!  Change the sentiment for a Beautiful Winter Birthday card!!

Petal Cone Card

Today I am showing you how to use those leftover die cuts from the Santa Petal cone box!  Lookie  and see if you can recognize the pieces??  This card is so simple and used the top from Santa's beard amd one of the perfectly cut banners created by this die.  Stamp and go kind of card!

I sponged the Tree with Gumball Green ink and cut a scrap of Gumball Green card stock for the trunk.  I use Snow Festival Designer paper cut at 5 1/2 X 3 for the backdrop.  Punched a Red Glimmer Star using the Merry Minis punch pack.  The card base was embossed with Delicate Designs Embossing folder.  This reminds me of snowflakes.  I use our Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details to add some more sparkle.  WARNING do this step LAST to avoid a Dazzling Detail Disaster!!! Also start left and go right if you are right handed to avoid details drug across your card.  Left handed reverse!  Let dry or hit with your heat tool, but not too close!

Santa Petal Cone Box

How cute is this guy?  And with the Petal Cone Die, Santa is a snap to make!!

Cut a 8 1/2 X 11 piece of Real Red card stock in half  at the 5 1/2 inch mark.  Run both sheets thru the Big Shot.  Cut 1 Sheet of Whisper White card stock in half, run thru Big Shot.  This will give you beard pieces and other pieces to use on future projects.  Fold your red pieces on score lines and add Sticky Strip to the flaps.  Build your Santa by trimming one of the white cones in half. Cut about 3/4 way up, save the point for a tree on another card! Cut down the half scallop for the hair. Punch from your scrap with the 1 1/4 Scallop punch. Run these 3 white pieces thru the Big Shot with the Fancy Fan Embossing folder.
Punch an Xlarge oval in Pink Pirouette card stock for Santa's face and a Itty Bitty Shapes Circle for his nose. The mustache is 2 wings from the Bird Builder punch!! Glue down the large beard piece, it will fit perfectly since it is cut from the same die. I sponged some cheeks on Santa's face and around his nose with Real Red classic ink. Added some google eyes. Add his hair to his face.  I used glue dots to attach and popped up his mustache on Stampin' dimensionals. Sounds complicated but really very easy!!

Leave the bottom open as shown.

Punch 2 small circles and using a paper piercer and Mini Silver brads make a closure for the Santa Box.  I used White Bakers Twine to wind around the circles and close the box.
