Sunflower Hexagon

I showed you the main stage presentation a few days ago with the cute creations using the Six Sided Bundle.  Here is my version of the Sunflower.  Super easy and love the look, it reminds me of the Flower Garden quilt my Mom and Grandma made with fabric scraps when I was little.  I am sure one in still in the cedar chest in my living room.  My crafting gene came from my Family, we were always making something!

I used Crushed Curry ink on Crushed Curry Card stock and punched and sponged with a bit of Early Expresso ink.  The center was stamped with Early Expresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock.  I drew a Pear Pizazz stem with the marker and stamped one Hexagon with Pear Pizazz ink and cut it in half for the leaves.  The Sentiment was stamped in Early Expresso ink on the Naturals Ivory card base.  Embossed with the Honey Comb embossing folder and then the Sunflower and leaves were popped up with dimensionals.

Stampin' Up is introducing kits to make your gift giving super simple.  Here are 2 examples of the Tag a Bag Gift Bags.

Favorite Convention Make N Take

You know I love the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and this card from Convention uses it to the MAX!!  So of course I love it!!

And it is really so simple, yet involves lots of color and 2 stamp sets.  I need to remember to stamp more on envelopes.  Love the look and it gives the recipient a sneak peek of the card.  I started with Calypso Coral and randomly stamped the stripe image from Gorgeous Grunge.  Then the Summer Starfruit large splotches.  Stamping off to lighten the color.  Then Pool Party splotch and Finally the Old Olive fine splatter.

The individual elements were an Old Olive arrow from Hello Lovely snipped out.  A Pool Party strip folded and stamped with Pool Party ink using the diagonal lines, with a snip of Silver Glimmer paper adhered to the bottom edge.  A Crisp Cantaloupe 1 3/4 circle stamped with the & sign in Crisp Cantaloupe and the Hello stamped in Calypso Coral.  A piece of This N That Washi tape.  All layered on top of the card front.  Random, Eclectic, very Artsy!!!

Make this any color combo, any sentiment for a GREAT ALL occasion card.

Gorgeous Grunge  130514 Wood $24.95,  130517 Clear $17.95

Hello Lovely  130240 Wood $32.95,  130243 Clear $24.95

Convention Swaps

I thought I had a post out here for Monday?  OOPS!  It was a long day yesterday, picked up at the Hotel at 9am, landed at 7:05pm.  But I am so glad to be home, My Snoopy cat was very happy to see me.  And so thankful to be OUTSIDE!  5 days of solitary confinement is about all Snoop can tolerate.

So today's post is a few swaps received by my Room mates. We lay them out on the bed and take pictures.   I can't give credit where credit is due because I did not photograph the backs.  But many swappers do not include contact info, so I am sure they would be flattered if we want to re-create their work!  2 of the cards use a stamp set I do not have....GASP!!  Giggle Greetings, love the cheese cake, so this set is now on my wish list.

Royals game thru Thursday, so expect more swaps for the next few days until I get some time to create.  Wow did I get some fabulous ideas.  Can't wait to share them.......

My Prize!!

I won a new Framelit set for my Prize Patrol.  I can't show you the actual picture, BUT I can show you what the CEO of Stampin' Up made with it!!  Shelli did a presentation on cards with movement and here are a few of her projects.  Sorry for the pictures, they were snapped from an overhead screen.

This Framelit cuts your circle for you and allows you to fold and create this card.  There are also a few words, you can spy one in the Valentine cut out of Designer paper.  The bottom photo is an album Shelli created by adhering several frames together.  There is also a set with a Label.  I will let you know when these are ready to order.  Hoping to play this weekend and show you more of the words with this set.

Swap-tastic!!

I have 100 swaps and wanted to try another 3D item, so here is my rendition of a Sunflower!  What do you think?  These could be Back to School gifts, Teacher gifts, Bunco Pencils, or just a cute and pretty for a Friend gift!  So easy to make and I can even imagine a Baby Rattle made very similar, but with 2 treat cups back to back.  I will work on that after Convention.

The hardest part was sorting the Reese's Pieces for only brown ones!  I filled the Treat tube with a pencil and left it open on the top.  I cut 2 flowers from Crushed Curry card stock with the Floral Frames framelit.  Embossed one with the Square Lattice embossing folder, but first punch a hole in the middle with the 1 3/4 Circle punch..
The Treat tube was scotch taped to the back flower.  I filled the Treat cup with candy and punched a 1 3/4 circle of Early Expresso card stock.  Take the backing off the sticky part of the treat cup and lay down the Expresso circle.  I used 2 small pieces of scotch tape to hold the circle in place. It is pretty much the same size as the inner ring of the treat cup.
Add some half dimensionals to the back of the embossed sunflower, keeping them close to the center.  I used 3, offset your top flower and press down over the treat cup. I then tied a snip of Pear Pizazz taffeta ribbon and Linen thread around the pencil.  I hope Convention swappers like my 3D!

Ingredients:

Circle Treat cups 116802 $2.95 (12)
Treat tubes 124134 $2.50 (50)  You can find these on page 160 of the Big Catalog listed as 1X8 cellophane bags
Floral Frames 127012 $26.95
Crushed Curry card stock  131199  $6.95
Early Expresso card stock  119686  $6.95
Square Lattice embossing folder  119976 $7.95
1 3/4 circle punch  119850 $16.95
Pear Pizazz taffeta ribbon  131208 $6.95

Convention Candy Bags

In the new Holiday catalog you will be able to order these cute bags!!  They are about the size of a card front and hold 6 wrapped pieces of Russell Stover candy.  My roommates love RS chocolate, so this is the rest of my roommate gift.
I used sponge daubers in the IN Colors and randomly stamped the bag to match the tags,

And then I had a wild idea to ink an embossing folder!!  This is the new Mosaic embossing folder inked with Crisp Cantaloupe.  I inked the folder, ran it thru the big shot, re-inked folder and did the other side.  LOVE this and how cute would these be for quick Christmas gifts!  You get 8 for $9.95, so that is a little over a $1 each.

Convention Room-mate Gifts

I had to share these tags I made for my room mates.  Each year at Convention we receive a Convention bag, I have seen a sneak peak and this year it is a back pack in Silver and Gray.  Maybe Smokey Slate, only 4 more days and I will have it in my hands!!

Anyway all 6000 attendees will be carrying the same bag!  Yes I said 6000, this is the 25th Anniversary and Demos will be attending from all over the world.  So I wanted to create something special to set my 3 roomies and myself apart from the crowd.  So here they are, Matching Badge holders that we can attach to our bags and help us keep track of whose is whose!!

Venetian Romance Designer paper has almost all the in colors, so I used a different pattern of the paper and color of Ruffled Stretch ribbon on each badge.  Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana and a snip of Silver twine.  The Initials were embossed in Black on Coastal Cabana and punched with the Label Love punch and layered on the piece of designer paper.  I embossed each tag with a different embossing folder.  Honeycomb, Fancy Fan, Chevron and Sycamore Street.   A coordinating Rosette was made with the designer paper and adhered to a Pansy Punch of Coastal Cabana card stock.  25 was embossed in Silver on Coastal Cabana and punched with the 1/2 Circle punch and layered on a 3/4 inch punch of Silver card stock.  This was then layered on the Rosette.   Sticky strip was used to hold down the Rosette and to adhere it to the outside of the Badge holder.  An In Color Button was added with a glue dot to the Initial side of the Badge.

Love them!!  And hope my Roomies will too!  I am also taking a Big Bag of Russell Stover assorted chocolates.  We call this emergency Chocolate!  I always like to include something exclusive to KC.  Can't wait to see Tricia, Mona and Rebecca in Salt Lake City..........

I will be heading to Utah July 17th.  I plan to have blog posts with new Holiday Mini items while I am gone.  Also check my Facebook (Kathy Swanson) for Convention photos and announcements!!  And as always you can shop ONLINE 24/7!!
