Cosmos by Kat

What do Cosmos and the Royals have to do with inspiration and card making?  In my life.....lots!  The Royals are pretty HOT right now and the last few weeks driving in and out of the ballpark has been a Beautiful journey.  Last week I took these pictures, you may have seen them on my Facebook page.  I love my flowers and purple, well that is icing on the cake........

What a great display of wildflowers, cosmos to be exact out at the K.  www.Edenbrothers.com sells a mix called Sensation which looks a lot like the above picture.  I may plant these along my far fence next year, sure beats weed eating!  So where am I going with this.......
I have struggled to use this stamp set until I took these pictures.  Finally time to sit down and create my version of Cosmos by Kat.

I used Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder and Versamark ink.  Clear embossed the Cosmos on Whisper White card stock.  The Flower Garden Embossing folder was inked with Rich Razzleberry, Sentiment from Best of Greetings.  Panels popped up and there we go, my version of Cosmos.

I hope you get a chance to visit the K, before the Cosmos are gone for the season.  The gate 6 entry off Stadium Drive is the BEST.  Speaking of BEST, you can order the Best of sets until 2014!  And if you buy 6 you get any stamp set up to $14.95 FREE.  My collector card has 6 stickers, so I need to choose and get my Free stamp set.

For Mom and Grandma.......

My Mother and Grandmothers taught me the love of Nature and all things Floral.  My Brother and I grew up with a yard full of flowers at home and an even larger display at Grandma's House!  I don't really remember to many annuals being planted.  Grandma wanted something that kept on giving so perennials, daffodil bulbs, and cannas were our plants of choice!  She had a Bleeding Heart bush that amazed me.  We would look at catalogs and she would explain the map and how certain things would not grow in Illinois due to our ZONE! One of those was Hydrangeas,  I was always drawn to Hydrangeas and once I moved to Missouri began collecting different varieties of Hydrangeas and this is one of my Favorite stamps.  Powell Gardens had beautiful varieties of Hydrangeas, check them out if you get a chance.

The card base is Whisper White card stock embossed with the Framed Tulips embossing folder.  The Hydrangea was stamped in Certainly Celery ink on a 1 1/2 X 3 piece of Whisper White card stock.  I colored the Hydrangea with the Baja Breeze marker.  Outlined the stems with the Certainly Celery marker.  Baja Breeze card stock was punched with the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack.  I used my thumb nail to curl the petals, and then used a dot of Tombow adhesive to glue them down.  A small Rhinestone was placed in each center.  The Sentiment was stamped in Perfect Plum ink and the edges were sponged with Perfect Plum ink.  The Hydrangea was also sponged directly on top to add some plum tones.  This image was them mounted on a 1 3/4 X 3 1/4 Perfect Plum mat.  The entire panel is then popped up with stampin Dimensionals.  Perfect Plum Taffetta ribbon is tied around left edge.

The Itty Bitty Punch pack is the perfect way to use up scraps.  Punch like colors and keep in a ziplock bag or empty embellishment container.  Always ready for your next project!  Dazzling Details would be a good substitute for Rhinestones.

Best of Flowers

March's 25th Anniversary Stamp set is "Best of Flowers".  I have finally had time to ink a few of these up.  I Embossed the Hydrangea in Clear Embossing powder and then Bleached away the color of the Perfect Plum card stock.  I then added color back with markers.  Certainly Celery on the leaves and Perfect Plum, Marina Mist and Certainly Celery on the flower.

I then cut the image with the Ovals Framelits.  Embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Holiday frame embossing folder and then cut it with a larger Oval frame.  The Perfect Plum card base is stamped with En Frances in Perfect Plum ink.

The Ovals are layered on top and a snip of ribbon form the Artisan Embellishments Kit and Perfect Plum taffeta ribbon hide the Christmas tree image on this embossing folder!!  Thanks to Diney for pointing that out to me!!
