Mosaic Butterfly

This little guy is a bit of a struggle, but well worth it!!  Only 1 per card is needed and tackling the BIG Butterfly is not something I want to experience!  I have seen many blogs and cards using this technique.  Well maybe not an actual technique, but here are the steps to save you some time!

Cut a solid Black Butterfly, cut an Open Black Butterfly, poke out the pieces and save if you want to make other Mosaics using Black spots.

Yes, You will need BOTH Framelits sets, but they are well worth the investment!! Because the match and work so well together!!

Now cut an OPEN Daffodil Delight and Tangeine Tango butterfly.  Try to poke out your pieces and lay them in order, so you can easily find the piece that fits.  Potentially you can make two Mosaic Butterflies with these pieces, just reverse the color pattern.  This little guy took me about 15-20 minutes, now that I have a plan I'll be faster!

Place the littlest amount of Tombow glue on the tip of your poker.  Pick up the piece needed with your poker and place thru the OPEN Butterfly and onto the Solid Butterfly. If you have the right piece it will fit perfectly, if not the right piece you will know and try to find the spot for the one on your poker.  Remember tiny bits of tombow, tiny, very tiny.....or you will have a mess!!  Fold your wings on the Open butterfly gently back and forth to make sure your Open wings do not stick to the pieces you have added.  Keep repeating until complete.

I used the Background splat from "You've Got This" in Crumb Cake ink on Sahara Sand card stock, and then stacked my Butterflies up the card.  Once you get past the hard part this card goes together quickly.  And these small Butterflies make great card accents and can be cut from card stock scraps in a rainbow of colors.  Also I have not had to use Wax paper with this little framelit!!  A nudge from my poker makes the spots fall right out!
