Samantha's Cards

One of my past downline had a home workshop Tuesday evening and here are her card choices.  Samantha has been blog hopping and the Halloween card is by Julie Day.

Both cards use sponging and this card uses the brayer.  Not a technique I teach very often and the results are not consistent and it gets inky!  The new Photopolymer Halloween set "Bite Me" gave us some sentiment choices, but the bats are from a retired set Wicked Cool.  A mask for the Moon was punched with the 2 1/2 Circle punch from a sticky note.  The sticky note was positioned on the card front and then Brayered with Rich Razzleberry.
When using a Brayer, ink it fully and then start rolling off your cardstock to avoid lines.  Same with sponging, use a circular motion and start off the card stock and sponge on and off.  It takes lots of ink, so keep going, but once it's on it's on!
The mask was removed and the Trees stamped in Basic Black ink several times.  Elegant Eggplant was sponged in the corners and a few clouds added to the Moon.  Bats stamped in Basic Black ink.  More Basic Black ink sponged to the bottom.  The sentiments were stamped in White craft ink and embossed with White embossing powder on Black card stock.  Punched and popped up on the Elegant Eggplant card.  Spooky for sure!

One Light, One dark, the Brayer takes some practice!!

The Christmas card is by Stampin' Up demo Laura Barto and uses sponging and masking.  I love the way the framelit focal point was cut to look like a window.  The card base is Night of Navy, with a Whisper White mat.  The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy and then this layer was embossed with the Northern Flurry embossing folder.  Edges were sponged with Soft Sky and Night of Navy
 ink.

The larger frame was cut with the Labels Framelits in Basic Black.  The size smaller was cut in Whisper White.  The Tree was stamped in Always Artichoke.  A mask was used for the Moon, buy punching a 1 3/8 Circle punch in a piece of scrap card stock.  The Moon was sponged with So Saffron and Summer Starfruit inks.  Edges were sponged lightly with the Blue inks.  This frame is then cut and popped up on the larger frame.  Summer Starfruit ribbon was tied across the mat a few Rhinestones added for some bling!
